Your Heating charge is calculated by the amount of time your heating unit is in use. A sensor attached directly to your individual heating unit monitors the amount of time your heat is on. Your individual heating charge is determined by the percentage of your measured time as it relates to the total time for the entire community. Your percent of use is then multiplied by the total gas charge for the community to determine your monthly heating bill. In other words – The longer you use your heat, the higher your bill will be.
