Barbados bicameral Parliament consists of the Senate, 21-member body appointed by the governor general. The House of Assembly, which 30 seats are occupied by members elected by direct popular vote to serve 5-year terms, and the Judicial branch consisting of the Supreme Court of Judicature, which judges are appointed by the Service Commissions for the Judicial and Legal Services.

One judge said he should have been appointed to the High Court and thinks there is a clique within the judiciary which he is not a member, so there is some division and he was hanging on a branch when he said that.
