How long before it is safe to have another baby after giving birth?
Every pregnancy carries a risk of complications, no matter how long it’s been since the previous pregnancy – your risk is very slightly higher but only slightly so it may as well be non-existant. Try not to worry about it, what will happen will happen is the way I see it. I’m three months pregnant and have a nine month old, the pregnancy was planned. We started trying when he was three months old. I asked my GP (who specialises in reproductive health) how soon we could start trying again at my six week check-up. Because my pregnancy didn’t have any major complications and I had a fairly straight-forward vaginal birth he said we could start as soon as we wanted to. If it was so dangerous to your health to get pregnant again, he would have told me to wait longer. He said he would recommend waiting if their had been a caesarean, an instrumental delivery (e.g., forceps), or a severe tear of Grade Three or above (I had a second degree tear) as the body needs longer to heal in those circumst
