How long can a miniature dachshund live with worms?
It really depends on what type of worms she has. The only worms a person can see w/ out a microscope are roundworms (they look like spaghetti) and tapeworms (they look like rice). Hookworms, whipworms and coccidia can only be seen under a microscope. Worms can cause diarrhea, vomiting and can also cause a dog to become anemic (from blood loss). It really depends on how old your dog is and what type of worms she has as to whether or not she will be ok for a week or two. If this was my dog I wouldn’t wait to take her in. Why are you having to wait? If you are seeing worms in the stool call your vet and tell him/her what you are seeing. Some vets will let you come in and pick up a dewormer without seeing your pet. I would still recommend you taking her in when you can and get her checked for the other types of worms she could have but calling and picking something up now would be a good idea. Hope this helps!
