How long has osteopathic manual medicine been around?
Osteopathic principles were first introduced by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still in the late 19th century. Deeply affected by the loss of three of his children, Dr. Still devoted his career to understanding why some people become sick while others remain healthy. He rejected the post civil war medical practices of frequent amputation of often toxic drugs, and developed techniques that successfully treated the body as an integrated entity.
