Your fish might live together, but they have nothing in the world in common besides their fins and should not be together. Fish stores just want to sell you stuff. Your fish, believe it or not, don’t even need the aquarium lights on – as long as the room gets light during the day, it’s enough. Leaving them off will not only make the temperature more stable, but will also prevent algae. Just turn on the lights when you are home to enjoy your tank. It would be more enjoyable if you got rid of the goldfish, which can grow three times larger than your whole tank, and stock it with proper fish.
