How long will it take to perform an MRI test?
– The examination will take between 20 and 30 minutes to complete. All patients will need to change into a gown. Watches, keys, credit cards, jewellery, hair clips, wallets, mobile phones, hearing aids and handbags will be placed into a personal locker and secured. The MRI technologist will go through a safety check form to ensure the examination is a safe procedure for you. People with Pacemakers, certain implants or metal fragments in the eye must not go into the MRI room. The radiographer will position you on the scanning table as required. A special coil may be used around the area being scanned. The scanning table will slide you into the middle of the magnetic field where the images will be acquired.
