How many analytes can be determined simultaneously using FS 3100?
The FS 3100 can be configured with up to 2 FIA or 3 SFA channels. In principle, these can be run simultaneously. However, there are practical limitations in any lab environment, mostly relating to compatibility of sample matrices. For example, TKN and TP cannot be run simultaneously from the same sample cup as ammonia and ortho-phosphate (since they reside in an acidic digestion matrix incompatible with an aqueous matrix). Two, three, or four analytical channels are most often selected for simultaneous determinations. For example, in a wastewater treatment plant, ammonia, ortho-phosphate, nitrate/nitrite, and nitrite are often run as an analytical suite.
