How many days are in each month?
Use your knuckles! How many days are in a given month? September, 30 or 31? July and August both have 30, right? Many grew up reciting the nursery rhyme about the days in each month. My attitude is if you can remember the damn rhyme you can learn the number of days without resorting to the poem as a crutch. As you may have guessed, I never mastered the rhyme. Thirty days hath September, April, June, and November: All the rest have thirty-one, Except for February, Which hath twenty-eight days clear, And twenty-nine in each leap year. I showed my Mom the following YouTube video at Christmas 2008. It was the first time she’d seen this done. I always thought both of my parents taught it to me. Obviously it was Dad. So here’s Dad’s trick to remember how many days are in each month: We’re all right-handed so we made a fist using our left hand.
