Yet, they received the patent for their technology in December 2003. How old is the technology and are all the installations based on the patented technology? ASI’s ALDS was developed based on various patents since early 80’s. The patent in Dec 2003 is one of them. Throughout the years, the ALDS technology has improved drastically in the areas of false alarm reduction, sensitivity improvement, robustness enhancement (operating under loss of communication, etc.), as well as various new applications (such as multiphase flow pipelines application, product line theft detection, etc.).
