Domain name registration prices per year vary depending upon the length of term you wish to register for. Due to the breakup of InterNIC in 1999 there are competing Registrars who are responsible for the registration of domain names. Each Registrars set the price they charge for registering names, and prices vary significantly among different Registrars.
