How much does a radio controlled airplane cost?
You asked the right guy. I have much experience with this. The first one I got (for my teenage boys) was a cheap foam job; a set with the plane, radio and all included. It cost about a $100 as I recall. We went to a club and found someone to help them fly it for starters. However, the plane was really flimsy, unreliable, etc. We bought a used plane from a club member for about another $150, plane radio and all. It was good and reliable. We joined the club and they taught the boys to fly. Over several years we worked our way up to a number of fine airplanes costing as much as $700 each. A few lesser ones were destroyed along the way. Expect that. I think the approach indicated here is good. Club, used kit, etc. Do not attempt to fly without an instructor/lessons; you will crash! Planes vary in cost from a couple hundred (for something halfway decent) to many thousands depending on size, power, etc. This is a great hobby. Enjoy!
