How much impact does the tire wear have on the speedo reading?
When riding on a 17″ bald tire, the speedo and odometer readings will be in advance by 1.5 – 2% compared to a new tire. To compensate for this effect, we recommend to set the SH calibration value regarding to a “half worn” tire. Those who need very high accuracy should set the SH calibration value for their current tire, and decrease the value by 0.1% (e.g. from -6.5% to -6.6%) after each 500 kms / 300 miles.
