How Much Should It Cost To Replace Timing Belt In 2000 Honda Accord (4cy)?

At our shop we would charge about $800. We would replace the timing belt, balance shaft belt, all idler pulleys, valve cover gasket, water pump and coolant. If it needed it we would also adjust the valves and double check the ignition timing once the new belts were installed. You need to find a shop like mine. The dealer usually only replaces the belts. Your engine is an interference engine which means if your timing belt breaks it will damage the engine. When the belt breaks the camshaft and crankshaft will rotate out of time and the pistons will strike the valves. You will have bent valves and maybe cracked pistons and at the very least you will have to have the cylinder head taken off and have the valves replaced which starts at about $2000.
