Hi potplant, If I was you I would just plant as much as you can, especially of those veg which you can freeze if you have a freezer. As well as planting in the ground, use hanging baskets, tubs, pots etc to grow your salad stuff in, this saves ground space for broccoli, cabbage, caulies, sweetcorn etc. As one of the other posters mentioned, unless you have quite a lot of land to dedicate to growing your own, you will only be able to supplement your food bill and not cover it. So far I have growing 30 sweetcorn plants, 18 caulies, 12 cabbage (2nd lot), Peas, broad beans, 12 tomato plants, 30 turnips, 6 broccoli, 30 sprouts, a whole bed of carrots, dwarf beans, 30 iceberg lettuce, spring onions, 6 big bins full of potatoes, radishes, two trays salad leaves, strawberries (large hanging basket full) 2 hanging baskets filled with sugarsnaps, another hanging basket filled with peas, 30 lollo rosso lettuce, sage, rosemary, oregano, borage, rosemay, thyme, lavender, corn salad and another bin
