The 90 days stay limit in the U.S. (to include Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean) only applies to passport holders of countries that make use of the Visa Waiver Program. They do not longer fill an entry/departure record but their entry is documented with a stamp in the passport and is entered in an electronic database when their passport is scanned. On side-trips to Canada or Mexico they are still registered as being in the United States. Since you enter as tourist visa holder you will still have to fill the entry/departure record form I-94 manually and present it to the U.S. immigration officer on entry who will annotate the date until you are legally admitted. When you travel to Canada by land you will need to ensure that you turn-in the I-94 to the Canadian Border Services Agency officer who will forward it to the U.S. CBP. Should for some reason they refuse to take and forward it you alternately can mail it with proof that you have left the U.S. and that you stay long-term in Canad
