How “old” is “too old” to get pregnant and have more children?
I had my kids when I was 27 and 29, and was pleased with that time of life for myself. I got a tubal ligation when. I was 35–when several friends (older than I) announced they were pregnant and I felt only horror at the thought; AND when I realized I was looking at 20+ more YEARS on contraception. YIKES! FOr me, that time was 35. I had 2 kids, one of each gender, and my spouse and I decided we were done. So, think about this: Remember your first pregnancy, delivery, the first year of the child’s life, and the curtailment of your freedom, and where you are now–and decide whether the thought of lack of sleep, being tied to a baby’s, toddler’s and pre-schooler’s schedule is going to mean for you. Think about that basic 18-year committment to it all… and evaluate WHO is going to have the biggest part of the burden of it. My grandmother had her last child at 42. Physically, women are able to bear children safely later and later. There was a spate of people in their 40’s “having a baby a
