Within the United States the Majoirity of Muslims that can be found are Sunni, just like the majority of Muslims in the world are Sunni. In most communities were there are Muslims Shi’as their numbers are not that many that they can afford to have their own mosques (although there are Shi’a mosques in Texas and California but this is because of the large Iranian population that has gathered there and does not include other Shi’as). Because the Shi’a are in the minority they are less likely to put themselves in direct conflict with Sunnis. This is not to say that every Shi’a will then get along with Sunnis in fact there are Shi’as and Sunnis which hold beliefs that the other is not truly Muslim but these group of people do not make of the majority of either group of Muslims. The question is then what is the difference between the religions.
