How should we handle “Early Graduates”? Is participation in CATS testing mandatory for graduation?
There is no state regulation that says the student must complete the assessment in order graduate. HOWEVER, some districts do have such a regulation. However, a Board of Education may set graduation requirements too. In the case of Fayette County Public Schools we do have a policy in place which requires student participation. Schools should attempt to strongly encourage students to take the assessment.
