How the EQ loads generated by STRUDS® are applied on the structure?

0

The horizontal EQ loads generated by STRUDS® are automatically distributed along the frames as nodal loads at each floor level. STRUDS® distributes the EQ load by following two methods. FRAME STIFFNESS METHOD: In this method, STRUDS® computes the relative stiffness of all the frames in X and Y directions. The base shear in X direction is resisted by plane frames along Y axis and vice versa. COLUMN REACTION METHOD: In this method, the loads are distributed depending upon the reactions at every column. A column having larger reaction will take more EQ load.
