How to best raise money for a burn victim??
Everyone knows that firefighters put out fires, respond to medical emergencies and save lives. But behind the scenes, union members at one local fire department do even more for the community they serve. Muskegon Fire Fighters Local 370 of International Association of Fire Fighters has two fund-raisers each year that result in thousands of dollars that benefit child burn victims as well as area charities and youth sports teams. The Muskegon Fire Department is one of only two full-time fire departments in the county and has the largest union membership. Union President Pete Hughes said Local 370 during the past year donated a total of $12,585 to 26 charities and other organizations. The donations went to many agencies under the United Way umbrella, such as the Muskegon-Oceana Chapter of the American Red Cross, as well as local children’s sports teams.
