How to Build a Solar Oven

An easy way to make a solar oven is to use a cardboard box (pizza box for instance. On the lid cut along three sides leaving a one inch rim between the flap and the sides . Cover this flap in aluminum foil to reflect the sun into the oven to cook. Fold this flap out. Now use clear plastic wrap to make an airtight window to your oven. Use a double layer of plastic wrap and tape this down at the edges with duct tape to ensure it stays in place and will not allow bugs in. Line the bottom of the box with aluminum foil and cover with black construction paper to absorb the heat. It is now ready to use. Place in a sunny area so that the sun rays bounce off the flap into the oven. Remember your oven may only reach 200 degrees at best. It will take longer to cook items. Reheating cooked items or items that do not take real long to cook through are best. You can treat it like a slow cooker for meat if you have several hours of sun.
