How to properly use catnip?

0

Most kittens don’t respond significantly till around 8 or 9 months of age, to catnip. The fresh stuff is far superior to any of the sprays, and Cosmic Catnip is one of the best ones on the market if you don’t have it growing in your back yard. What you can do is leave a radio on in the room to give her some stimulation while she’s in there alone, so she doesn’t stress so much wanting to be with the excitement she can hear outside the door. As for catnip, she can have a fresh sprig, or the leaves and flower tops, but the dry stems should be discarded, as the drier it gets the more the stem will splinter (in commecial catnip they shred everything so you don’t have to worry). Most cats get all excited, spend 15 minutes being ‘high’ then get sleepy and it acts as a sedative once the initial stimulant phase is over.
