How to start a non profit organisation, for poor people?
There are several things that need to be done to start a nonprofit organization. You first need to make sure your purpose qualifies to be a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization (yours does if your goal is to help people who fall in the low-income category). Next, you’ll want to put together a Board of Directors to run and govern the organization. Then, you need to get incorporated as a nonprofit organization in your state. You’ll need to file Articles of Incorporation with your Secretary of State, apply for an EIN with the IRS, and prepare Bylaws (the rules that govern your Board of Directors). Lastly, you’ll need to apply for 501(c)3 status with the IRS by completing the Form 1023 application. I’ve listed these steps briefly, but the process is anything but brief.
