How were the pilot groups selected?
Each PITO pilot group had to include three to ten physicians, and could be:· A combination of solo or group practices· A mix of family practice and specialists· A mix of experience using technology· One clinic or multiple clinics in collaboration.PITO sought a balance of:· Rural and urban practices, across all regions of the province· Family practice and specialists· Practices with no EMR in place and practices with existing EMRs.There was also a preference for the following types of groups:· Experience participating in a large health initiative (such as the Practice Support Program, the Chronic Disease Management Collaboratives, or specialist initiatives)· Groups that are part of a larger group committed to implementing an EMR together (e.g. a community or specialty)· Practices in which all physicians would be participating in the PITO pilot, implementing the same EMR, and are willing to be physician champions for EMR adoption among their colleagues.Additionally, each physician was re
