• It is envisaged that the information gathered as part of the Transparency Review will be used internally for the following purposes: • To inform pricing decisions. The costing information produced from the Transparency Review should be used as a basis for costing courses, research proposals and other University work. This should ensure a higher recovery of both direct costs and overheads from external sponsors, which will be of benefit to both departments and the University. • To make staff more aware of the total cost of all University activities (teaching, research and other). • To provide more information to departments as to what their income is spent on, both within the department and on central University activities. • To provide back-up for overhead charges levied on external sponsors. The University sector collectively will be able to use the information from the Transparency Review exercise to put pressure on Funding Councils and other sponsors to increase overhead rates. Th
