How will the schools be affected if Issue 49 fails?
Without new funding, Worthington City Schools will be forced to make drastic cuts. Without the passage of Issue 49, the District will be forced to lay off teachers, reduce course offerings, reducing busing to the state minimums (eliminating busing for high school students and any students that live closer than the 2 mile limit) and pay to participate fees will immediately double for the remainder of the 2009-2010 school year. Without new funding soon, the district will have to eliminate district support for all extra-curriculars, including sports for the 2010-2011 school year. These cuts will lower the quality of education in the district, push residents out and discourage new residents and businesses from moving in.
