How will the wells provide an emergency water supply?
Two of the proposed wells would be designed to operate using an emergency power supply (portable generator). Groundwater from these wells would be disinfected at the well facility and pumped into tanker trucks, which could distribute the drinking water throughout San Francisco. In addition, an emergency drinking water well has already been completed at the San Francisco Zoo and is available for use.
