If there is no transportation program to serve the needs of the elderly and the disabled in your area and you would like to implement a program, there are two agencies you should contact. Your state RTAP office (see directory) will be able to provide you with funding information at the federal and state level such as what monies are available to your community through the FTA’s section 5310 Program. They can provide technical information to help you start a program, identify successful transportation programs within your state, and will provide you with all the training materials developed by the National Rural Transit Assistance Program (NRTAP).
