Maybe there’s no way of knowing ahead of time but Lennox’ career turned out for the better without King. He had to fight the tough fights before getting his shot at any of his contemporaries. Lennox only got the chance to fight Holyfield or Tyson when they needed HIM. Tyson wanted no part of him when he was champ. By the time Tyson fought Lewis, he NEEDED that fight. It amazes me that no one seems to remember many of Tyson’s interviews during the time just before the Lewis fight was signed. I know people don’t want to imagine this but I really don’t think Tyson was too eager to fight Lennox. The only thing that might have changed is that Lennox’ victory over Mike Tyson might have a bit more meaning. In the eyes of some, it’s cheapened because Tyson was already stopped by both Douglas and Holyfield. People will always say Tyson was past his prime.
