Husband was fired, I need medical attention.. how long will my HBCBS hmo health insurance last?
I work for Blue cross Blue shield and usually you have insurance for 30 days after termination. Also even after those 30 days if you pay the Cobra premium you can still keep your same insurance for up to 1 year (varies from state to state). Often Cobra is expensive but if you go w/o health insurance even for 1 day then the next insurance company can consider any medical condition pre existing and not cover that condition for up to 1 year. Call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and a cs rep can look up your coverage and tell you if you are still covered,how long coverage will last and give you Cobra information. Also don’t wait to get antibiotics for your tooth ,that infection can rapidly spread . Even if you have to go to the ER. Also Publix has a program where they give antibiotics for free. You just take your prescription and they fill it free ! No strings attached.. Go to their website and get a list of those antibiotics before going to your doctor or ER
