I am a production builder. How does the batch testing work?
Batch testing is allowed so that production builders, building similar houses with the same subcontractors, would not be required to test every house. While the batch testing protocol is similar to that used by the Energy Star program, the code process departs with respect to when houses are completed and ready for testing. For Energy Star, a house can be selected from a batch well after the houses are completed, a CO issued, and even after the houses are occupied.
