I am trying to use installer of ICEM CFD on sgi and gets to a point and gets the error: “Error in Tcl script Error: can find controlling terminal”. What is the reason?

You might have started the setup by using the file manager on SGI (by clicking on the setup file). In that case the setup is unable to get the pid (I use the ps command for it) of the gtar/gzip process. As workaround for that problem you should start the setup file from a shell window.
