Check that your computer meets the minimum requirements listed on the inside front cover of the CD. Try re-booting the computer once installation has been completed as this sometimes irons out the problem. Failing that, it might be that you have a previous version of Acrobat on your system that will need to be uninstalled before the program will install Acrobat Reader 4.05 (the de-bugged version of Acrobat Reader 4.0).
