I have a 7.1 receiver with all seven speakers and sub woofer connected. Why cant I hear any sound coming from the surround back speakers?
The multi-channel sound tracks found on most DVD movies are mixed in 5.1 Dolby Digital. As this is the case there are no dedicated audio tracks for the surround back speakers. This means that a decoder must be used to send audio to the surround back speakers. This is achieved by accessing the surround enhanced modes by pressing the corresponding button on the remote control (the function of each Yamaha receiver may vary depending on the model, please refer to your receivers owners manual for more information) You can select from the following decoders depending on the format of the source you are playing.
