I have a DMS 4, Matrix Infinity, or Crystal Chip 1.1 and I can play backups, whats going on?
A. You need to flash the chip with the latest firmware. Download it, burn to CD-R using the Alcohol 120% burning guide posted earlier in the thread, put it in your PS2, and follow the onscreen prompts. The type of media you use and how its burned makes a difference. DVD Decrypter works great and you can set the burn speed all the way down to 1x. Try Verbatim DVD -R or DVD +R (change the book type to DVD-ROM before you burn if using +R, Tools/Drive/select your brand/Change For: next write/ New Setting: DVD-ROM) and set the burn speed to 1x or 2x max. I have been able to burn working copies with cheaper DVDs by setting the burn speed low.
If your mod chip is updateable you can use DVD Decrypter to burn the .bin. First you need to click Tools/Settings/Registry and check the .bin box for DVD Decrypter to recognize it. Then burn the .bin to CD-R at 2x. Load the CD into your Playstation 2 and press Reset to boot the disc.
