Mac OS 9.1 does not require any other software to work with Firewire hard drives. Appleā€™s Drive Setup in OS 9.x does NOT recognize firewire drives, and if you need to reformat a firewire drive, you will need to use a third party utility to do so. If you have access to Mac OS X, we suggest reformatting the FireWire drive using Disk Utility included with Mac OS X.
