For some reason (probably related to the fact that the 6100 uses a small bit of RAM as VRAM) on a dual monitor system mine (with the G3 upgrade and video card) if the startup screen is not set to the primary screen the system freezes. However, if the primary screen (meaning the onboard video out) displays the startup screen (extensions, etc.) the system boots up fine, runs the G3 updgrade fine, and uses the RAM fine.
