I took the AP exams and received credit for Calculus I (Math 120), Microeconomics (Econ 101), or English (English 101X or ENGCMPTC 101X) at UM. Do I need to take these courses in college?
Students with AP credit in Math 120 and Econ 101 have met our pre-requisites in Calculus and Economics. However, we urge such students to demonstrate strong quantitative skills in challenging courses at UM. For example, we strongly recommend that students with AP credit for Calculus I enroll in a higher Calculus course, such as Calc II or Honors Calc I, or an equally challenging course in a different quantitative field. Similarly, we suggest that students with AP credit in Econ 101 consider Econ 102 or an equally challenging course in a different quantitative field. In either case, appropriate course selections depend heavily on individual ability and level of preparation, so we suggest that students discuss their choices with an academic advisor.Students with AP credit in English 101X or ENGCMPTC 101X have not met our pre-requisite in First-Year Writing. Students must elect a course approved for First-Year Writing credit in LSA.
