I would like to apply to Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) but do not have a degree in either CS or CE. How do I make sure that I have the appropriate background?
You need a bachelors degree in the field or the equivalent. To determine if you have the equivalent you must read through the CSE Degree Requirements (available from our admissions page) and select the required (kernel) courses. Then refer to their prerequisites (course descriptions are available on line http://www.eecs.umich.edu/eecs/academics/courses.html). You must have this prerequisite knowledge before you apply for the CSE Program. It does not matter where you take the prerequisite course work. If you have the equivalent knowledge in other ways than course work, You should attach an explanation in your application package.
