A careful study of the Bible shows that Churches in the New Testament refer to groups of people located in places, not actual buildings. For example “The Church in Layodecia” And when referenced, the Apostles writing about The Church in [Location] would talk about the Church, phrasing it in such a way as to say “The Church is” or “The Church is not” or “The Church thinks”… This is clearly not referring to a building. Christendom converted people into buildings so that they could build ‘Churchs’ that were ruled by Authorities who usurped the power of God, and if the people felt the Church was a building, they did not feel they were all equal participants in God’s will, which allowed them to be manipulated. Thus… God builds Churches, ’cause God built people who are “The Church” in whatever location… And God is inside of all of us in some form. According to the Bible at least. It was never commanded in the Bible to build “church” buildings…just to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together. When Jesus (Ya’shua) is speaking of the “body of Christ” as His “church” the greek term originally is Ekklesia…which translates to “a people gathered for a purpose” and that purpose is to spread the gospel and see to the needs of people who are…well, needy. Any “church” not doing that is not of the body of Christ. “you will know them by their fruits..” What a “church” produces proves to whom it belongs. However, it is my personal opinion that there is nothing wrong with building a meeting house to worship, praise and fellowship…I think that some congregations go a little too far in the dollars they spend with these latte sipping, power point display, water fountain, live band, million dollar stained glass window mega churches…but..who am I to judge.
