If i go to the pet store and buy bird pellet/seed looking stuff, dump it in my yard, will it grow into a plant?
I can honestly answer this question BECAUSE my exotics[birds] are in a large avian environment…and each time I clean their aviary I ALWAYS toss the seeds & remnants from my birds feeder outside in the grassy area…Oh yes in deed, plenty will grow…I now have Doves,Robins/Mockingbirds/Blu-jays etc totally thrilled with the area of tossed seeds they can now reap all the benefits from…
Yes, bird seed will grow into plants if you plant it outdoors. The pellets are a cooked mixture of ground grains with added artificial coloring and synthetic vitamins, so the pellets will not grow. It is a good idea to try and sprout, or grow, your bird seed, this insures that your seed is fresh if it is still viable. So if you ever have seed that has been sitting around for a while this is a great way to test it before you feed it to your birds.
