No, you can bypass it but we do not recommend it. Session management is a complex issue. Unless you know how to handle the life-cycle of a session, you are better off using Kernl’s session manager, which is the default strategy for handling sessions. Note that our session manager also has features like session timeout, session cleanup and session persistence to support load-balancing and failover. If you are writing business components in Kernl, using Kernl’s session manager gives you a good strategy for handling session-based systems with multiple channels.
