I just read a book by a guy who spent a lot of time in Kruger National Park in S. Africa, and the subject came up when he was with a couple of guides. On a 1-on-1 fight, a tiger is heavier and would probably win, but in real life tigers are solitary and would be pushed out of hunting grounds by prides of lions.
