Im allergic to shellfish and iodine. Can I used products that contain the ingredient algae?
There are many types of algae, but in general, ingredients from the ocean such as algae and seaweed naturally contain iodine just as shellfish does. However, the severity of the allergy depends on the person. Many people cannot ingest shellfish because of an iodine allergy, but would have no problem putting a product on their skin. Other clients have a more serious condition and cannot do either. When dealing with any client that has al allergy, its really not up to us to determine what is safe. With any allergy, its really up to their doctor or allergist to make the determination of how severe the allergy is, and what they need to avoid.
