• Maximize the current viewport (using the SPACE BAR hotkey) so only the current viewport is visible. • If you are editing one part of an object (e.g. the head of a character) then hide the rest of it (e.g. body) using the Edit->Hide Selected Surface menu option. • Create layers for different parts of the object and selectively hide the ones that are not being edited. • Make sure the Viewports->General…->Display Selection Quickly option is enabled (it should be by default). • Make sure you have enough RAM. If you are editing several high resolution texture maps (e.g. 4000×4000) and you only have 512 MB of ram, then prepare for sluggish performance at best. • Dual (or more) processors will dramatically speed up painting speed compared to a single core processor.
