Another alternative I would suggest is the 3.5 liter Nissan Altima/Maxima/350Z and Infiniti G35 24 valve DOHC V-6 motor; made from 2002 on. It is all aluminum, has more power than the Mitsibishi; is considered more reliable, and runs better. Whatever motor you use; it will be necessary to also use the computer, air intake plumbing, underhood sensors, and engine wiring harness from the same donor car. You’ll also need an electric fuel pump which produces the same maximum pressure as the one in the original car. If you don’t use the stock exhaust system, catalytic converter and all of its oxygen sensors; there may be problems getting the stock computer to work well with the modified exhaust system. There are programmable aftermarket computers which might be more suitable in such an application; but you may still need the stock wiring harness and some of the sensors.
