In Hindu religion, is Laxman a God or Holy man?

0

As the wikipedia page that Wendy referred to says, Hindus do not consider Laxman as a separate God or a holy man. He is always seen alongside Rama, his elder brother, who is considered an incarnation (avatar) or Lord Vishnu. One thing the wikipedia does not mention: Laxman went to the forest with Ram and Sita to take care of them and to serve them. He therefore “gives” his sleep to his wife Urmila for the 14 years he is away. So Urmila spends 14 years sleeping while Laxman is awake all the time in the forest. The bed of Vishnu, which is SeshNag is said to have been reborn as Laxman and that is why Laxman is said to be of a fiery temper. But Laxman is also considered the benchmark for brotherly devotion and devotion to duty.
