Increasing mileage in running plan: consecutive days?

0

As a general rule you shouldn’t increase your mileage by more than 10% per week because it will ‘shock’ your body. So if you’re doing 4 miles this week do about 4.4miles next week, then 4.8ish then 5.4 etc. (Roughly) In about 2months you’ll be back to 9 or 10miles per week. When you run on consecutive days is really up to you, it depends how many miles you like to run at a time. Running 3miles at a time should be fine, & you’ll be able to do this with a day between until you get to 12miles. Adding in the extra mile on one day per week is a good way to slowly increase your training. Just try to follow the ‘10% rule’ & you should be fine. Obviously, injury preventative measures will help: Running on soft surfaces Running in the correct type of shoe for your foot (neutral/ pronation etc.
