Is 3.81 TSH level normal of a 22 year-old Female?

It depends on the reference range of the laboratory that measured the TSH – different labs measure it in different ways, so ‘normal’ will be different. However in most places, 3.81 would be considered normal or high-end of normal. It certainly doesn’t clearly indicate hypothyroidism. It’s really not possible to conclusively say whether that is ‘normal’ for you or not – it would depend on your symptoms, your T4 level and whether the TSH level has gone up or down over time. As one of the other answerers says, some experts feel there should be a very low threshold for diagnosing hypothyroidism. But plenty of other international experts disagree with this and it’s highly disputed. My advice would be to speak to your doctor and get it rechecked in 6-12 months time. Be wary of anyone who tries to put ou straight on medication. Also be aware that TSH can dramatically change if you have other illnesses.
